(Radio Play, Short) For reasons he can't explain, Stephen feels compelled to enter a sketchy looking tattoo parlor that any sensible person would avoid altogether. Once inside, he encounters a peculiar old woman, who Stephen enlists to become the artist of his baptismal ink job. At the first prick of the needle, he decides to make a break for the door, but the old woman bars his way, with a terrifying plan in store.
Check out a live recording of the Radio Theatre Project at the Studio@620 of St. Petersburg, FL, performing the play, complete with outstanding Foley work by Matt Cowley.
“This is a true horror classic and so well written. I was immediately drawn into the story and held my breath until the very spine-tingling ending! A tale of terror indeed!”
- Lee R. Lawing, Playwright
“This was such a fun, enjoyable introduction to radio plays for me. I would love to hear this as it was meant to be produced - coming across the airwaves on some cold, dark Halloween night. Burdick does a great job of setting the creepy mood and tone and painting a picture in the mind's eye of gloom and despair - all in wonderful, eerie detail. I was most intrigued with the classic fairy tale witch set in the modern setting of a tattoo parlor. A delightfully disturbing ending, too!”
- Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos, Playwright
“What a thrilling and atmospheric yarn spun so effortlessly by Burdick. Reading the script and listening to the radio play version at the same time showcases Burdick's grasp of narration and action as well as compelling use of sound effects to heighten the growing sense of dread. The ending has me chilled to the bone! Very well done!”
- M.r. Fitzgerald, Playwright
“Masterfully eerie. The ending really got me, it made so much sense and yet it was also so surprising. The language usage in this is also so carefully chosen, it works very well. It would be an absolute delight to hear this piece performed. I want more!”
- Ryan Bultrowicz, Playwright
“I wish everyone could see the face I made when I finished reading this creepy, awesome play. I am delighted and horrified - this piece of radio theatre would make Stephen King's heart beat faster. I can only hope I get to hear it performed one day. So clever, so creepy. I love it.”
- Jordan Elizabeth Henry, Playwright
